Day 136 – Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Finally, we get a day to do nothing but beach! Woot woot.. we’ve been looking forward to the white sands of Brazil for ages now.

But first, I had the most amazing experience at breakfast! Jon had mentioned they’d seen Common Marmosets at breakfast, but today they appeared when I was there, and I got to feed them! I just broke up a banana into pieces and held it up to a nearby branch. At least four of the family came up to eat out of my hand, either biting the banana directly, or taking it with their paws to eat a bit further back. Seriously one of the best experiences ever – I am such a sucker for animals!

And then it was off to the beach! We’d decided to stop by Ipanema Beach first (me singing the classic song ‘Girl From Ipanema’ the whole way there and then work our way back to Copacabana. They are next to each other and Copa is closest to our hostel. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we just chilled and drank fresh coconut juice. As you do.

Not a whole lot to say other than sand, sun, and surf. What more could you want? Oh, and maybe some beach football. And of course, one last session of aerial silks. Just for torture’s sake. (We are veeeery sore). But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

And last night in Rio! Tomorrow, we go for a bit more chilling in the beachside town of Paraty. or Party as we’ve decided to call it. :)
