Have you got your Visas sorted?
For any traveller heading to a foreign country, checking out their visa requirements in advance is a must! It seems like a simple thing, but you’d be surprised at the number of people that think you don’t need a visa or you can pick up a visa when you land. While that is true of some places, it’s be no means the norm, and you dont want to be denied entry. So, here is a helpful breakdown, by country.
Firstly, what type of visa do you need? Are you simply sightseeing, volunteering, or doing some other work?
Main types of visa include:
Tourist Visa
Business Visa
Student Visa
Transit Visa
Working Holiday Visa
Different types of visa are valid for different durations and will cost different amounts.
As mentioned, some visas can be obtained on arrival in the country (at specified border crossings and major airports). Most others must be applied for in advance at an Embassy or Consulate. These are highlighted below.
Remember, when you apply for a visa in advance, you may need to give your passport to the local embassy for a few days. Not in all cases, but definitely in some. You can usually pay more to request a fast return but that is harder when planning a multi destination trip.
